Mongol Conquest

If you view the clash of armies as a subtle strategic dance rather than a chance to get "medieval" with your opponent then Mongol Conquest is the game for you. With the whole of the Old World as your chess board you can direct the expansion of a potential world empire via this simple but elegant game system. From your home areas in the Eastern Steppe, you must decide the direction of the next strategic thrust by your empire. Will you put more effort into the endless grinding war to subjugate China or will it be a ruthless lightning campaign of conquest in Russia. Whatever you choice don't take to long about it, as the years pass it will become harder and harder to hold together what you have already conquered. In the end you may run out of time as the empire falls apart under its own weight.... or you may go on gloriously to equal or exceed the achievements of Ghengis Khan and his successors.

The game is a turn based strategic simulation played solitaire. You control the Mongols from the start of their period of conquest in 1206, with all the other empires, nations and tribes of the period controlled by an intelligent and flexible AI opponent. The game turns represent 5 year campaign periods. At the start of each campaign you assign your leaders and "tumens" (units of up to 10,000 cavalry), plus any infantry from conquered and subject nations to form armies to defend or attack on fronts ranging from the Far East to North Africa.  At the end of each campaign your various opponents may declare war, offer peace or offer to become your vassals. But take care the death of your Kha Khan  may lead to civil war, rebellion or the beakup of the empire and the premature end of your hopes of world domination.
